Brazil have emerged as narrow favourites to win the 2018 World Cup in Russia ahead of reigning holders Germany, according to players of ESPN FC’s Match Predictor game.

Neymar and co. are backed to lift the trophy for a record-extending sixth time by 43 percent of users on the day before the tournament kicks off in Moscow on June 14.

Joachim Low’s defending champions are expected to be the first side to retain the World Cup since Brazil in 1962 by 38 percent of players.

France and Spain (21 percent) are ahead of Lionel Messi’s Argentina (12 percent) as potential champions in the game, in which voters can predict the result, goal scorers and a variety of other events for each of the 64 matches in the tournament.
