Liverpool vs Manchester United betting tips – 14 October 2017

Liverpool simply can’t start playing well and collecting positive results in consecutive matches, now having only one victory in last four Premier League rounds. They come from a 1:1 draw away from home against Newcastle before the international break, in a game where they had much more of the ball possession, but not that much of concrete chances created.

The Reds took the lead in 29th minute via Coutinho, but got leveled up just few minutes later with a goal from Joselu, being threatened on the counters as well. In the second halftime they controlled the game completely, but failed to do more meaningful things in attack. The side is now at seventh position, already having seven points less than leading duo from Manchester a victory here would surely erase their poor start into the season, but it’s not that realistic having in mind what have we seen for now from them.

Not first choice goalkeeper Adam Bogdan remains long term absentee with an injury without performing so far in the season, same as right back Nathaniel Clyne and offensive midfielder Adam Lallana. Other offensive midfielder Sadio Mane (5/3) is out with a muscle injury, while doubtful with lower back problem is central defender Dejan Lovren (5/0).

Manchester United, on the other side, is having a really good start into the season in Premier League, only having one setback so far in a 2:2 draw away to Stoke City couple of rounds ago. Other than that, they have all six other victories, including a 4:0 easy victory over rock bottom placed Crystal Palace weekend before the international break took it’s course.

It was an easy game for United, as all of their home matches so far as the side opened it in the best possible way, with a goal in third minute from Mata, while Fellaini netted at the end of first, but also at the beginning of second, with Lukaku just writing the final 4:0 result in 86th minute. At most of the times they looked impressive so far, while it’s obvious that the defensive part of the team improved a lot, having conceded just two goals in first seven rounds.

Guests continue to miss midfielder Marouane Fellaini (6/3) with a knee injury, while striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic (no performance so far) and defender Marcos Rojo, who also didn’t perform, are long term absentees. Midfielder Paul Pogba (4/2) is out with a hamstring injury, while midfielder Michael Carrick has some chances of playing tomorrow. Central back Phil Jones could also be ready after missing out from national team previous weekend.

Man Utd have kept a clean sheet in 8 of their last 9 matches (Premier League).

Overall so far, players of Manchester United have simply showed much more in the new season and therefore remain slight favorite for me in this one. Liverpool is simply way to inconsistent and unreliable not only in this season, but for seasons now. Visitors aren’t having poor record at Anfield in recent years at all and will be my choice here even though they might miss some options in midfield.
