Liverpool was no real match for Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, as the Citizens looked superior from the start in overall a very open game and took the lead in 24th minute via Aguero. However, everything got extra changed in favor of the Citizens once Mane got red carded in 37th minute and the Reds were forced to play even more defenisve minded football.

Gabriel Jesus netted one at the end of the first halftime, scoring another in 53rd minute, while Sane scored two goals too inside last fifteen minutes for completely deserved victory for the Citizens. This was first defeat for Liverpool since the start of the season, as the team came off from a 4:0 victory over Arsenal and looked quite well, in-form and with a decent morale behind themselves for new big game in Premiership. Three pointer here is an obligation for the side, not only because of improvement of their form and atmosphere, but also of increasing the chances to reach the knock-out phase later on.

Hosts should be field up in some version of 4-2-3-1 formation with Firmino as central attacker probably, plus Mane, Salah and Coutinho as offensive support. Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan remains injured, but anyway isn’t first option, while offensive midfielder Adam Lallana and forward Danny Ings also remain sidelined. Midfielder Philippe Coutinho has a bit of prolem with lacking match fitness, but could be employed here. Right back Nathaniel Clyne isn’t registered for Champions League matches.

Sevilla, on the other hand, generally couldn’t have wished for a way better start in the new season, as the team managed to reach the Champions League group stage in a bit difficult way over Turkish Basaksehir (thanks to a 4:3 aggregate victory), but have opened up the new LaLiga season with decent results as well.

They had a 1:1 draw at home in the season opener against Espanyol, which could seem as a setback, but the match came in the middle of two games against the Turkish side in Champions Leagues, clashes that were surely much more important for the side. In second round they got a narrow 1:0 victory over Getafe maybe a bit lucky, but the side showed their quality last weekend when they overpowered Eibar 3:0 by increasing the tempo in the second halftime and deservedly reach the points thanks to goals from Ganso, Ben Yedder and Nolito.

Guests should be playing in some version of 4-1-4-1 formation with Yedder as central striker, plus Navas, Ganso, Banega and Sarabia as offenisve midfielders. Goalkeeper David Soria (1/0), offensive midfielder Nolito (3/1) and defensive midfielder Johannes Geis (1/0) should be sidelined with injuries for this one. Central back Nico Pareja (1/0) has some problems but should be in contention for this one. Midfielder Ever Banegha is available after serving suspension last weekend.

There is no doubt that the players and manager Jurgen Klopp will want immediate reaction after their defeat with five goals conceded last Saturday afternoon. Liverpool has a great chances to improve, impress in front of own fans now and I’m convinced that they will not disappoint. Sevilla have never won away in England and that run should easily continue Wednesday’s evening as well.
